triple j Unearthed – Resin Moon

Triple j Unearthed has kicked off the careers of thousands of musicians including Grinspoon, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana, Amy Shark, The Rubens and the 2016 Hottest 100 winner Flume.

Through ongoing commitment to developing new Australian acts, triple j have teamed up with NT Major Events Company to give one talented Territory act the chance to play on the BASSINTHEGRASS stage with some of the country’s finest on May 20.

Welcome to the BASS stage, Resin Moon.

Hailing from Australia’s most isolated music scene, Resin Moon makes dreamy electronica from his desert home of Alice Springs.

You may have heard his catchy pop tunes in major TV campaigns for Mitsubishi, Medibank, Tourism NT or perhaps you heard the praise for his NT Song of the Year 'Salt', from triple j's Zan Rowe. Resin Moon, aka producer/songwriter Dave Crowe, has been kicking serious goals in 2016, releasing his debut EP 'Salt', following up with a national tour and winning the NT Song of the Year. His follow up single 'Feels' shot up the Spotify viral chart to the top 10, as his EP reached over half a million streams.

Resin Moon's album, currently in the making, will feature collaborations with Grammy winner Franc Tetaz and Sally Seltmann as well as a swag of Northern Territory musicians.

Heavily anchored in the Northern Territory music scene, Crowe runs a studio, record label 'Sing Hum' and collaborates with remote bush bands and a heap of town based artists.

Growing up in Brisbane, the move to the Northern Territory, at age 20, was a huge influence in Crowe's songwriting, as he explains,

"The desert of Central Australia is like a vast canvas for creativity. The sense of space, the surreal, confronting, beautiful landscapes are a source of endless inspiration."

An accomplished vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist, Resin Moon showcased at BigSound in 2016 and his live show was named as one of the top 6 international acts at Music Matters in Singapore in 2016. Playing piano since the age of 4, Crowe began writing songs at 7, inspired by his Grandad, an accomplished pianist. He grew up absorbed in analogue synth-pop and computer game music of the 80s, developing a love of electronic music and synthesised sound.
