Why was People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS rescheduled?
The event was rescheduled to 31 October 2020 in response to the Australian Government’s precautionary measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The health and wellbeing of anyone attending our events is paramount, and we will continue to monitor the situation and be guided by the best health advice from the Australian Government and the Northern Territory Government.
I bought a ticket to BASS and can’t make the new date. Will I get a refund?
Anyone who purchased a ticket to BASSINTHEGRASS in May will be able to use that ticket for the October event. If you can’t make the new date, a refund is available via Moshtix.
How will you make BASS as safe as possible for attendees?
NT Major Events follows the best public health advice from Australia’s Department of Health and NT Health. We will follow all recommendations around public gatherings, and continue to liaise closely with NT Health. NTMEC carries out a full risk assessment for each event, and will put in place any additional health and safety measures where required.
We also ask attendees to follow the latest health advice from the Australian Government.
We ask that everyone who attends any of our events to be considerate of others and take the same precautions they would to avoid catching a cold or flu.
The message is clear – the best way to minimise the risk of spreading any infection is to practise good hygiene. Wash your hands well and often, with soap and water or hand sanitiser. Avoid touching your face. If you have to cough or sneeze, use a tissue or your elbow to cover your mouth and nose.
What if certain bands want to pull out of BASS due to the rescheduled date?
NT Major Events is expecting to lock in much of the original line-up, plus a few exciting new additions. More details to come.
I’ve already booked flights for the May event. What do I do?
Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar have confirmed they will change flights to a later date without the purchaser incurring any change fees until 31 March. Each airline has a slightly different policy and cut-off dates, so we advise you to contact your airline as soon as possible. If you have booked through a third party website you should contact that company directly.
I bought my tickets for the May 23 date. Will I be entitled to a refund?
Anyone who has purchased a ticket to BASSINTHEGRASS will be eligible to attend the rescheduled event.
Refund details for anyone who cannot make the new date will be announced once the new date is locked in.
How much are tickets?
Tickets start from $105 + booking fee for GA and go up to $220 + booking fee for VIP.
What does the VIP ticket include?
If you’re feelin’ fancy and looking for that next-level festival experience, snap up one of the limited VIP tix for $220+ booking fee. Presented by our neighbours at Mindil Beach Casino Resort, the VIP Zone gives you access to a premium space with private bars and toilets, a finger food package, four drink vouchers, a souvenir stubbie cooler plus a primo view of two the main stages.
Where can I buy tickets from?
Tickets can be bought online through our website and our ticketing provider Moshtix. We discourage tickets being purchased from non-authorised sellers as there's no guarantee these tickets will be valid for use.
What if I haven't received my ticket?
If you haven’t received your ticket we recommend checking your junk mail folder. If you still haven’t received your ticket or have lost it, contact our ticketing provider Moshtix on 1300 GET TIX (438 849) or email Ticket Support (firstname.lastname@example.org). Before calling them, make sure you have your credit card and personal information handy.
Do my kids need to buy a ticket?
Children 13 and under are allowed free entry when accompanied by a ticketed adult or guardian. Be sure to pack a student ID in case asked for proof of age.
Are Companion Cards accepted?
Companion cards are accepted to accompany ticketed festival goers where required.

What are the set times?
Set times will be announced closer to the event
There are no passouts this year. This includes both underage and 18+ attendees. All of the action is inside anyway, so why would you want to leave?
Are buses free again?
Lucky you - your People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS ticket provides you free bus travel to the event on the Urban Bus Network. Simply show the driver your ticket when boarding. Bus stops are located adjacent to the event site. Head here to check the timetables and maps. Free buses will be provided to get attendees home safely and take them to all major interchanges: Darwin, Palmerston and Casuarina. One rural service will be provided.
Where can I park?
There is no parking at the event. Free public parking is available at Darwin High School, which is about 500m from the event. Accessible parking is available on site.
Are there Pick up & Drop Off zones?
A designated Pick up & Drop off zone will be located at the venue.

Can I purchase alcohol at the event?
Attendees with an over 18 wristband can purchase alcohol within the venue. Don’t forget your ID! Government issued ID such as a Driver’s Licence, Proof of Age or Passport must be presented by people over 18 wanting to consume alcohol. If you can't provide an accepted form of ID, you will be issued with an underage wristband.
What ID do I need?

When do the bars open?
Public bars and the VIP area will open when the event does at 1pm.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
BYO is not permitted. All bags will be searched upon entry.
Are there dry areas?
Designated dry areas will be located and signed on site.

Where can I apply to be a caterer at the event?
Catering expressions of interest will open in the early new year with availability being offered exclusively to Mindil Beach Market Stallholders.
Is there free water?
Yep. Each ticket holder will receive a free water voucher which can be redeemed at the Mt Franklin Water Station. We encourage you to do your bit to help reduce waste by topping up this bottle at the refill stations supplied and recycling it when you’re done. There will be two water refill stations within the venue. We encourage you to hang on to your water bottle and refill regularly to stay hydrated.
Can I bring my own food?
Food cannot be brought into the venue but we do have plenty of food stall holders in the catering area! There will be vegetarian and vegan options available for purchase.
What are prohibited items?
The following items are prohibited at People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS; glass, sealed or un-sealed drink containers, chairs, umbrellas, sharp objects, aerosol cans, pets, alcohol and illegal substances. No professional photographic equipment, professional audio recorders or video cameras will be permitted.
What's your stance on antisocial behaviour?
We have a Zero Tolerance approach for any antisocial, aggressive, dangerous or intimidating behaviour, underage drinking, supply of alcohol to minors, consumption and possession of any illicit substances. Any of these activities will result in immediate eviction from the venue.
Do you provide cloaking and storage?
People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS does not provide cloaking or storage services for personal belongings.
Are there ATMs and Eftpos?
ATMS and Eftpos facilities will be available on site. We recommend taking out some cash before the event to avoid the queues.
Will there be First Aid?
First Aid posts will be located throughout the venue to keep you safe and well!
Are there Event Champions?

Our Event Champions are there to help you! They are a friendly, non-judgmental crew of people dedicated to ensuring you have a fun and safe day. The Event Champions Station is located near the entrance.
Is there merch available?
Merchandise will be available for purchase at the event! Find it all near the entrance.
Are there smoking areas?
Mindil Beach is a smoke free venue. Designated smoking areas will be located throughout the venue.
What about lost property?
Lost property can be handed in or collected at the Event Champions Hub.
Just identify your missing item to claim it if it has been handed in. Realise you’ve lost something after the event? All lost property will be taken to the NT Major Events Company office (Level 2, Rear 16 Bennett Street, Darwin) and can be collected after the event from Monday 25 May for one week.
Any unclaimed items will be handed over to the NT Police on Knuckey Street one week after the event.
Is there accessible parking?
Designated accessible parking will be available within the venue.
Is there accesible viewing?
A designated Accessible Viewing Platform will be available within the venue for the viewing of Cityside Stage. Please note at times this platform will not be shaded so prepare accordingly.
Are there accessible toilets?
Accessible toilets are located at the Mindil Beach permanent toilet blocks.
Does the event use eco-friendly products?
All bars at People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS will be using eco-friendly cups and cup holders. All catering sites will be in compliance with the City of Darwin’s Plastic Wise Policy.
How can I volunteer for the event?
Unfortunately there are very limited opportunities to work or volunteer at People's Choice BASSINTHEGRASS. We encourage you to contact Corestaff on 08 8942 6666 for any availabilities!
What's your policy on ambush marketing?
We do not permit or support any activity that may be determined as ambush marketing. This includes the handing out of flyers, the placement of posters, the distribution of products or any material considered unauthorised. As a consequence we may request the immediate removal of any person or organisation from the areas deemed to be zoned specifically for the event (this does include the car parks).
Where can I smoke at the event?
Mindil Beach is a smoke free venue. Smoking areas will be adequately sign posted. Please only smoke in these areas.
