Ways to cool off in Darwin

If you’re visiting Darwin for BASSINTHEGRASS then you’ll be excited to know that the temperature in Darwin is always warm. Perfect for a beachside music festival, if you ask us!

Swimming is a way of life for locals, with tonnes of swimming spots scattered across the Territory. Luckily for you, we’ve narrowed down the best of the best to check out while you’re here for BASSINTHEGRASS.

Take a Dip, and Take a Sip

If you’re like us and enjoy a luxe experience every now and then, why not check out the stunning infinity beach club experience at Mindil Beach Casino Resort?

Just a stone’s throw from the BASSINTHEGRASS venue, the 20m infinity pool boasts numerous sunbeds and a primo view of Mindil Beach (not to mention a front row seat to Darwin’s spectacular sunset show every night). Grab yourself a bite to eat and a drink and settle in for the day.

Get Out There

Swimming pools are great, but there is nothing quite like splashing around in a waterhole or waterfall to cool off.

Take a drive out of the city and check out Berry Springs or Litchfield National Park for a selection of gorgeous natural pools and waterfalls.

Wangi Falls is a guaranteed crowd pleaser and one of the most popular swimming spots within two hours of Darwin. Take a dive in the plunge pool, grab a bite to eat from the kiosk and then kick back on the grass.

If you’re up for an adventure, take the 45 minute return hike to the peak of Tolmer Falls for primo views of the park.

Jump on board a jetski

Got a need for speed? Why not give the 00Seven jetskis a try?

There’s plenty of tours to choose from, with amazing sunset and sunrise options around Darwin Harbour. You might even get to see some marine life and drift over famous WWII wrecks! If you’re not feeling adventurous enough to jump on your own jetski, you can ride on the back of your mate’s.
