Soak up the sun, sand and good vibes at Darwin's favourite beachside music festival, BASSINTHEGRASS. Returning 15 May 2021, BASSINTHEGRASS is a licensed, all ages event boasting twelve hours of non-stop music across two stages.
Established in 2003, BASSINTHEGRASS is the NT's biggest and longest running music festival. Ask any local - BASS is a Darwin rite of passage, and in its 18 years has seen some of the country's biggest acts perform to sold out crowds. In 2019, the festival moved to a bigger, brand new seaside location at Mindil Beach (famous for its stellar sunsets) and hasn't looked back since.
I remember having to travel interstate to go to music festivals, now people travel from interstate to come here!
A combination of world-class music at an iconic beachside location under guaranteed blue skies makes BASSINTHEGRASS one of the most memorable Australian music festivals around.
As this year’s line-up shows, the Territory knows how to hold a music festival and we also know how to turn on the fun in heaps of other ways, from swimming in Insta-worthy waterfalls to cage diving with crocodiles. All this makes for a unforgettable trip in the tropical north.
The Northern Territory Government stages BASSINTHEGRASS not only so Territorians can enjoy some of Australia’s biggest music acts on their home turf, but also to encourage people from across the country to come and experience everything the Territory has to offer.
After a break in 2020 thanks to COVID-19, we are delighted to be delivering BASSINTHEGRASS in 2021. So enjoy the festival, enjoy the unique experiences you will find here, and enjoy our laidback lifestyle and friendly people.
