FULL LINE-UP ANNOUNCEMENT FOR BASSINTHEGRASS
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Matt Conlan said Australian rock group Grinspoon would be returning to Darwin for this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS.
Mr Conlan said tickets to the popular music festival on Saturday 25 May went on sale today.
“I know the Territory has a lot of Grinspoon fans and I expect with today’s news they’re coming back to Darwin,” Mr Conlan said.
“The Aussie rock group will be returning to BASSINTHEGRASS for the second time, having first appeared at the festival in 2004.
“They’ll perform all their hits as well as new songs from their eagerly anticipated seventh studio album, ‘Black Rabbits’ which made its ARIA chart debut at number eight.
“Over the years, Grinspoon has amassed album sales of 500,000 copies in Australia, including multiple platinum certifications and the ARIA award for Best Rock Album in 2005 for ‘Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills’ and it will be terrific to have them back in Darwin.”
Also announced today to appear at the festival were hip-hop artist, Illy, pop rock band Amy Meredith and indie rock outfit, Kingswood. They join 360, Flume, Matt Corby, Hermitude and The Amity Affliction to complete the 2013 line-up.
“This year’s line-up for BASSINTHEGRASS is extremely strong and incredibly exciting with a real mix of musical genres and some of the biggest names in the country set to perform,” Mr Conlan said.
The Territory’s biggest music festival will also feature two local acts in hip hop duo My Team Dilemma and rock group Chasin Aces, who gave a taste of their performance today to Member for Drysdale Lia Finocchiaro.
“I can see why Chasin Aces were chosen as one of the two local acts to perform at this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS – they are incredibly talented,” Ms Finocchiaro said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for both My Team Dilemma and Chasin Aces to showcase their music to a home crowd, perform alongside their idols and advance their musical careers.
“The Northern Government knows how popular BASSINTHEGRASS is with young people and is committed to supporting the event, which sells out every year.”
